Color Dolor was brought to life in 2011 by the Helsinki-based singer-songwriter Stina Koistinen. Ever since its beginning the group has been working its artistic vision standing under a heavily alternative pop umbrella. On stage, the band mixes partly improvised vocal melodies with rhythms sometimes downright shamanistic, all the while the compelling presence of the enchanting frontwoman Koistinen catches the audience completely off guard.

The band’s debut single What Is Left? was published by Konkurssi Records in February 22, 2013 and their first album Cuckoo in a Clock saw daylight the following summer. All the tracks on the album were written by Stina Koistinen. The record was engineered and mixed by Joonas Saikkonen who also co-produced the album with the band. The second single from the album, Ones in the Woods, was released in October 10, 2013 side to side with a 3D video shot for the track. 2013 saw yet one release when the group made another video for the magical The Angel in the end of the year. Color Dolor was seen by NYT, the weekly additional to the biggest newspaper in Finland, Helsingin Sanomat, as “future megastars” (33/2012), while the established Finnish music magazine Rumba (3/2013) wrote:

“Color Dolor’s greatest strength is its sound that isn’t copied from anywhere else and which stays easily approachable despite its experimental nature.”

In the summer of 2014 Color Dolor, along with Saikkonen, started working on the follow-up to Cuckoo in a Clock at Ambience Studios -- this time with the addition of the producer Tommi Vainikainen. The themes on the upcoming record focus on all the wondrous aspects of life; praise as much as death and solitude. Visions of hope and love, however, surface throughout the album. Most of the songs again being written by Koistinen, the selection this time also features contributions by the guitarist Nicolas “Leissi” Rehn and drummer Ilkka Tolonen. The arrangements, all put together from scratch by the whole band, introduce a new soundscape by way of Jan Wälchli’s synthesizers now providing additional layers to the mix. The first single from the new album Wonderchild came out 12.12.2014 and was titled as Last Night. The album Wonderchild was released 27.2.2015. Second single from the album is called Owl & Rat and it was released 1.5.2015. Color Dolor went through a line-up change in the fall of 2015 when the originally Jyväskylä-based drummer Essi Nieminen replaced Ilkka Tolonen. Wonderchild (Radio edit), the final single from the band's second album, was released on 9th of October 2015.

In the fall 2016 Color Dolor again recreated themselves and got a couple of new band members. Now the band is:
